About Me

Nikol.jpeg

Hi, I'm Nikol. I'm a qualified Early Childhood and Special Education teacher with a Master of Arts in Special Education and over 15 years of international classroom experience working with children from Foundation through to Year 5.

My career has taken me through some of the most respected international schools in the world — from the Reception classrooms of Rugby School Thailand (rugbyschool.ac.th) to SEN support at The Village International Education Centre (village-education.com) and Early Years teaching at the International School of Chonburi (isc.ac.th). Along the way, I worked extensively with children who needed more than the standard classroom could offer — children with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences.

That experience taught me something I now know with certainty: the right approach, taught consistently and compassionately, makes an enormous difference. I completed specialist training in Systematic and Explicit Phonics, Teaching Writing to K–3, and Applied Behaviour Analysis, all grounded in the Science of Reading. I'm also a Professional Member of the Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation (DSF).

Now, through Versayle Learning, I bring that expertise directly to families across Australia and New Zealand — online, one child at a time. My goal is always the same: to help your child build real reading skills and feel genuinely confident doing it.

What I Do Now

Through Versayle Learning, I offer one-to-one online Specialist Reading Support for children ages 5–10 — the years when strong reading foundations matter most. My sessions are designed for children who are learning to read, children who've hit a wall, and children who simply need more structured, explicit instruction than a busy classroom can provide.

Every session is calm, focused, and tailored to your child's exact point of need. I use evidence-based, Science of Reading-aligned methods to teach phonics, decoding, and reading fluency in a sequence that makes sense — building confidence alongside skills, step by step.

My Education

Master of Arts
in Special Education
University of Arizona, USA
2020 - 2022

This course provides an overview of working with children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) from early childhood through Grade 12. It covers key principles of inclusive education, early identification of learning needs, and the use of effective support for learning (SFL) strategies. The program emphasizes evidence-based approaches in literacy, language development, behaviour support, differentiation, and multi-sensory instruction to create accessible, developmentally appropriate learning environments. Learners explore practical tools, case studies, and current research to build skills in planning, assessment, collaboration with families and professionals, and designing interventions that promote positive outcomes for students requiring additional SEN or SFL support.

Bachelor's Degree
in Early Childhood Education
Ashworth College, Georgia, USA
2014 - 2018

This program provides a comprehensive foundation in child development and early learning from birth through age eight. It emphasizes evidence-based practices in literacy, early numeracy, social–emotional development, and play-based, developmentally appropriate instruction. Learners explore multiple approaches to supporting diverse learners, building strong family partnerships, and creating engaging, inclusive classroom environments. The coursework focuses on practical application through lesson planning, observation, assessment, and classroom management, as well as understanding how to scaffold learning for children with varied strengths and needs. Graduates develop the professional skills required to design meaningful learning experiences and to support young children’s growth across all developmental domains.

Bachelor's Degree in
Italian and Russian Philology             Palacky University, the Czech Republic
1994 - 1998

A four-year program focused on Italian and Russian language, literature, and linguistics. The degree provided advanced proficiency in both languages along with a strong foundation in cultural studies, translation, and philological analysis. The program equipped with multilingual communication skills and a deep understanding of European literary traditions.

Professional Development

Through this course, I deepened my understanding of effective phonics instruction aligned with the Science of Reading. I strengthened my ability to design systematic and explicit phonics lessons, gained a clearer understanding of English orthography, and developed practical strategies I can apply immediately in the classroom. This training enhanced my confidence in identifying the key components of high-quality phonics instruction and ensuring that all learners receive the structured support they need to become proficient, successful readers.

Orton-Gillingham Multi-sensory, Structured Literacy Intervention

IDA (International Dyslexia Association) Lexercise, Elkin, NC, USA
May 2023

This accredited training deepened my understanding of how to teach reading using the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach, a structured literacy method supported by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). Through this course, I learned how to deliver explicit, systematic, and cumulative instruction in phonology, decoding, encoding, and language structure. I strengthened my ability to analyze student errors, plan targeted interventions, and use multisensory techniques to support learners with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. This training equipped me with practical tools to provide highly individualized, evidence-based reading support that helps struggling readers build confidence and foundational literacy skills.

Through this course, I strengthened my understanding of how young children develop as writers and the skills they need to write fluently and confidently. I learned practical, research-based methods for teaching writing in the early grades, including how to model the writing process, scaffold key skills, and create meaningful and engaging writing opportunities. This training equipped me with clear instructional practices that support children in developing strong foundational writing skills and becoming more independent, capable writers.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) - Behavior Support Specialist

Florida Institute of Technology, FL, USA
May 2023

This professional training equipped me with core behavior-technician skills grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). I developed competency in understanding and supporting behaviors through evidence-based strategies, including identifying the functions of behavior, implementing proactive and preventative interventions, and promoting positive behavior change in a structured, compassionate way. I gained hands-on knowledge in reinforcement systems, shaping, prompting and fading procedures, data collection methods, and analyzing behavior patterns to inform next steps. The course strengthened my ability to create supportive learning environments, respond confidently to challenging behaviors, and use ABA-based strategies to build communication, social, and self-management skills. This training enhanced my capacity to work effectively with children who need clear structure, consistency, and emotionally safe guidance. It supports my practice as an educator by helping me foster calm, predictable routines and individualized behavior-support approaches that promote confidence, independence, and meaningful progress.
